Today amidst the majestic ruins (claimed as Cultural Heritage of UNESCO and included among the Great Cultural Attraction of the Campania Region), the Acropolis brings forth great fascination, with the Torre Angioina and the theatre.
The magnificence of the history and the wonder of the multiform landscapes of Elea-Velia, continue today through the magical fascination of the ancient ruins of the town with centuries ago, was renown apart from its healthy thermal springs (as in fact, it hosted a prestigious Medical School), for the prosperity of its commerce and for its fair laws, in particular for the speculation of throught developed by the homonymous Philosophical school. The founder and leading figure was Parmenide, then followed by his disciple Zenon.
Amidst the ruins, one can visit, the splendid porta Rosa wich stands out, as the most important civil monument of the Magna Grecia, and the only standing example of a round arch of Greek manufacture still existing in Western Europe.
